A native of London’s deep south – Croydon – Jack has been passionate about bluegrass and country music since his early teens. Originally a guitar player, he bought a mandolin aged 16 after discovering the music of Bill Monroe. In 2015, he won a scholarship to attend the Monroe Mandolin Camp in Nashville, Tennessee where he met, learned from and played with musicians who had known and performed with the Father of Bluegrass. His mandolin playing is largely influenced by the music of Bill Monroe, and he has spent the last decade working to understand and reproduce Monroe’s unique style. As well as mandolin, Jack plays guitar and sings traditional bluegrass and classic country. He currently performs with The Vanguards.
